Do Not Let Offense Harden Your Heart

My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox girl, people will misunderstand you, speak against you, mistreat you, exclude you, and sometimes even hate you without reason. The question is not if offense will come, but how you will respond when it does.

Look at our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, our mighty and powerful God. How many times was He mocked, rejected, falsely accused, betrayed, insulted, and hated? Yet not once did He allow bitterness, pride, or revenge to rule His heart.

Instead, He responded with mercy, patience, truth, and love.

Christ Himself told us, “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.” John 15:18 NKJV

Not everywhere you go will people like you. Not everyone will understand your heart. In fact, sometimes the more you try to walk with God, the more opposition you may face. But do not let the behavior of others harden your heart.

An unoffendable heart does not mean you never feel pain. It means you refuse to let pain turn into hatred, bitterness, or sin.

Think about how many times we have offended God through our words, actions, thoughts, and silence, yet He continues to show us mercy daily. How then can we withhold forgiveness from others?

Pray for those who hurt you. Guard your heart carefully. The world teaches revenge, pride, and retaliation, but Christ calls us to humility, forgiveness, and love.

Be careful not to let temporary hurt pull you away from eternal peace. No offense, misunderstanding, or wound is worth losing the peace that Christ desires for your heart. Hold onto Him tightly, keep your heart soft, and let His love guide the way you respond to others.

May God give us hearts that remain soft, humble, and unoffendable, even in a world full of offense.
