My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, if you’ve drifted from God or taken a detour in life that has led you away from Him, returning to God is always an option that stands available to you. God stands ready to receive you with open arms.
Coming back to God after a season of distance is not a journey marked by guilt, but by grace and mercy. Our loving Father is not standing far away with condemnation. He is near, waiting with compassion and longing for your return.
We are reminded of this so beautifully in the Parable of the Prodigal Son. The father did not wait with a lecture. He ran to his son, embraced him, and rejoiced. This is the heart of God toward us.
I know one of the greatest struggles in returning is shame. It whispers that you have gone too far, that you are not worthy to come back. That is Satan’s way of keeping you away from God. But the Word of God speaks louder. In 1 John 1:9, we are given a promise that He is faithful and just to forgive us when we come to Him with a repentant heart.
God is still calling you, my sister. Even after every mistake, every delay, every moment you felt distant from Him, His love for you has not changed. He is still waiting for you with open arms, full of mercy, compassion, and unfailing love. You are not beyond His grace.
Take that step toward Him today, no matter how small it may seem. Return to Him sincerely. Heaven rejoices over every soul that turns back to Him, and our Lord delights in every step you take toward Him.
The moment you begin returning to Him, He runs to meet you with love, healing, and peace. With God there’s no shame, only mercy. For His Word reminds us, “The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy.” — Psalm 145:8 (NKJV). All glory, honor, praise, and thanksgiving be to God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whose mercy endures forever.
May His grace and mercy guide your heart, strengthen your faith, and fill your life with peace, wisdom, and unwavering hope. And may the prayers and intercessions of our Blessed Mother Saint Mary be with you always. Amen.
