Forgive Them Anyway

My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting someone else to suffer.

The truth is, unforgiveness hurts the one who carries it the most.

It steals your peace, clouds your joy and keeps old wounds alive. While the person who hurt you may have moved on, your heart remains trapped in the pain of what happened.

That’s why God calls us to forgive, not because what they did was acceptable, not because they deserve it but because you deserve to be free.

Forgiveness does not erase the hurt or pretend the offense never happened. It simply means you are choosing to place justice into God’s hands instead of carrying the weight yourself. No revenge. No more anger. No more resentment.

Some people think forgiving means losing power in reality, forgiveness is one of the greatest victories you can experience ever.

It breaks the chains of bitterness.

It makes room for God’s peace.

It frees you from the burden you’ve been carrying.

And it allows your heart to heal instead of constantly reopening the same wound.

My beautiful sister, you don’t forgive because the other person has earned it. You forgive because Christ first forgave you.

Healing may take time, yes, and trust may need to be rebuilt but forgiveness is where freedom begins. That is the first step!

Don’t let yesterday’s pain keep stealing today’s peace. Forgive them anyway!

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
