Guarding the Souls of Our Children

My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, this is a difficult truth, but it is one we must face with humility and love.

Many parents today, without meaning to, have stopped guiding their children in the ways of God. Instead, the voices shaping their hearts come from YouTubers, influencers, social media, and TikTok. Little by little, children are drawn into a quiet kind of spiritual captivity, alone in their rooms, lost in their screens, and slowly drifting in their hearts. Their spiritual identity becomes weakened, and their innocence is slowly wounded.

The Holy Scripture reminds us:
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord” (Psalm 127:3).

This is not a small responsibility. One day, every parent will stand before God and give an account for the souls that were entrusted to their care.

We are also taught:
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

Yet today, many parents place tablets and phones into small hands simply to bring silence, peace, or distraction. What feels like a small decision can slowly become a great spiritual danger.

My sisters, we must awaken before it is too late.

Rescue your children with prayer and fasting.
Teach them what is light and what is darkness.
Speak to them about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and our Blessed Mother, St.Mary
Teach them to pray daily — to call upon God with their own lips and their own hearts.

Guide them with patience. Protect them with wisdom. Watch carefully what they see, what they hear, and what enters their hearts behind closed doors.

Our children’s souls are priceless treasures.
May we guard them with love, discernment, and unwavering faith.
