Who Am I?

I have no respect for justice.
I maim without killing.
I break hearts and ruin lives.
I am cunning, malicious and gather strength with age.

The more I am quoted, the more I am believed.
I flourish at every level of society.
My victims are helpless.
They cannot protect themselves against me, because I have no name and no face.
To track me down is impossible.
The harder you try, the more elusive I become.

I am nobody’s friend.
Once I tarnish a reputation, it is never the same.
I destroy families and wreck marriages.
I ruin careers and cause sleepless nights, heartaches and indigestion.
I spawn suspicion and generate grief.
I tear families apart and
I make innocent people cry.

Even my name hisses.
I make headlines and headaches.
Have you guessed who I am?
I am Gossip.

Gossip is a six-letter word that produces great pain, on those who are being gossiped about. Some of the deepest pains have been known to come from hurtful words. Words can do tremendous damage, and have been known to even kill. The Bible tells us that the tongue has incredible power, we can use our tongue to bring blessings and life or curses and death. Now ask yourself, do your words uplift and inspire, or do your words destroy a life and crush a soul? I pray, that your words are nothing less than inspiring and uplifting. For the Bible is clear, “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit (1 Peter 3:10 NKJV).

Before you say anything, always THINK….
T – Is it True?
H– Is it Helpful?
I– Is it Inspiring?
N– Is it Necessary?
K– Is it Kind and pleasing to God?

My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, never let corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers (Ephesians 4:29 NKJV). And always remember, “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.”

A true Tewahedo Orthodox Girl, She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness (Proverbs 31:26 NKJV).

May your words always be kind and uplifting!
