The Greatest Thing We Can Do is Pray!

We live in a time where people have no shame at all in saying prayer and fasting is not enough. As a result they are quick to take matters into their own hands believing they are more powerful than God.  As a person who has  experienced God’s continuous  presence and support in my life, I believe the greatest thing we can do is pray. I know I can’t do it alone and I am always seeking God’s help and guidance in everything I do. Time and time again, God proves to me He is always there.

When we pray and fast, it is in the belief that God is powerful and He will answer us. We have to pray without any doubt and evil thoughts or actions. As the Scripture tells us, for the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” 1 Peter 3:12  (NKJV). As you can see, God does not hear sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him. Therefore, as a Tewahedo Orthodox Girl always repent your sins and God will hear you and He will answer your prayers.

We should never doubt in the power of  prayer and fasting when done wholeheartedly.  Through our prayers, God moves His gracious care into our hearts and lives. God can do more than we can and that is why we should always seek His help. Don’t forget, when Daniel prayed it was God who saved him from the lion’s den. When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego prayed it was God who saved them from the fiery furnace.  When David prayed it was God who allowed him to kill Goliath with a stone.  When Samson prayed it was God who gave him the strength to kill 1000 men and it was God who split the Red Sea for the Israelites. When our great grandparents prayed, they had true faith and God heard their prayers every time.  Sadly, now people (young and old) believe they are more powerful than God and that prayer and fasting is not enough. And they wonder why they have no peace in their life.

My Tewahedo Orthodox sister, rest assured God hears your prayers and sees your heart, and in due time He will answer you. Don’t be discouraged and please remember, we still have an amazing God who still moves mountains and who parts the seas on our behalf. Always pray and fast believing God will answer you and He will every single time!

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”  1 John 5:14 (NKJV)
