My first year at the University, I was blessed with the opportunity to go to Florida for a one week Christian Training Seminar for young leaders. I met an amazing and wonderful godly woman, who taught me an important lesson that I have carried on throughout my life.
She taught me the importance of keeping my palms open. She told me to always keep my palms open to receive the things God wants me to have, and for Him to take the things He does not want me to have. To never keep my hands closed, as nothing can be delivered into a pair of clenched up tightly held fists.
The following Scripture affirms everything belongs to God – The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. Psalm 24:1 (NKJV).
Our families, our friends, our kids, our jobs, our house, our cars, nothing is ours. It all belongs to God and no matter how tightly we hold on, it is not for us to keep. We have to appreciate everything God blesses us with, as He can take it back at any moment.
Keep your palms open and thank God for everything!
