My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, as we remember Palm Sunday, we are not just reflecting on a moment in history, we are stepping into a sacred invitation.
Our Lord entered Jerusalem not in earthly glory, but in humility. He came riding on a donkey, while the people laid palm branches before Him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” (John 12:13, NKJV). They welcomed Him as King, yet many did not understand the kind of King He truly was.
As Saint John Chrysostom beautifully reminds us, “He sat upon a donkey, not driving a chariot like other kings, not demanding gold, but showing a philosophy of poverty. He enters, not to strike terror, but to be loved; not to judge the world, but to save it.”
This is the heart of our King, gentle, humble, and full of saving love.
And that is where this message meets your heart.
Palm Sunday reminds us that following Christ is not just about praising Him in moments of joy, but also remaining faithful when the path leads to sacrifice, silence, and surrender.
My sister, honor Christ with your life daily, not only with your words, but through a life of true obedience. Lay down your own “branches,” your pride, your fears, your desires, at His feet. Follow Him not just in moments of celebration, but also in the quiet, hidden struggles where faith is tested and strengthened.
Because the same crowd that once shouted “Hosanna” in joy would soon stand before Him again, this time crying out, “Crucify Him!”
But you… remain rooted.
This is the beauty of our beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox faith, we do not follow Christ only for what He gives, but for who He is. We walk with Him through His suffering, knowing that resurrection is coming.
So today, examine your heart gently:
Are you welcoming Him as King over every area of your life?
Let this Palm Sunday be more than a memory, let it be a surrender.
“Hosanna” is not just a shout, it is a cry of the soul that says, “Lord, save me… and reign in me.”
Walk into this Holy Week with reverence, humility, and deep love for Christ.
He is not just passing by your life, my sister. He is near, gently knocking at the door of your heart, waiting to be fully received, not partially, but completely.
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey…”
— Zechariah 9:9 (NKJV)—
