Reflecting Christ On and Off Social Media

As a Tewahedo Orthodox girl, a beloved daughter of the King of Kings, your life is a reflection of His holiness. Whether you are in church, at home, or out in the world, you are called to walk in His light. Your faith is not just something you profess, but something you live—every moment, in every place. This applies just as much online as it does in person.

Our faith teaches us to discipline our bodies through fasting, purifying our souls in devotion to God. Just as we care for our spiritual well-being, we must also be mindful of how we present ourselves to the world. Our clothing is more than just fabric; it serves as a testimony of our love for Christ. It reflects our inner holiness and the honor we hold for our Creator. Always remember, modesty and self-respect are not limitations. They are gifts. These gifts allow us to walk with grace and dignity as beloved daughters of the Most High.

Our Blessed Mother, St. Mary, is the perfect example of purity, humility, and devotion. Her life magnified the Lord in all things, and we are called to follow in her footsteps. The way we dress, speak, and carry ourselves should honor Christ, reflecting the beauty of a heart devoted to God. Modesty is not just about clothing; it extends to every part of our lives. Our words, attitudes, and behavior shape the world around us. When we speak with kindness, act with integrity, and show compassion, we show the love of Christ. Like St. Mary, whose life drew people closer to God, our lives should do the same. As the Bible says, “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised” (Proverbs 31:30).

In today’s world, social media often seeks attention and approval. So, it is important to be mindful of what we share. We must ask ourselves: Does it glorify God? Does it serve as a true testimony to our Lord? Before choosing an outfit or posting online, pause and ask yourself: ‘Would this honor the Lord?’ We can’t wear revealing or inappropriate clothing, as it does not reflect the dignity we have in Christ. If you were standing in the presence of God, would you still wear it or say it? If the answer is no, choose what honors God—what reflects both your faith and your worth in Christ.

Remember, Christ died for you out of His immeasurable love. Because of that love, we are called to honor Him in every aspect of our lives. This includes our actions, our words, our clothes, and what we share with others. As St. Paul reminds us: “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:17)

My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, let your life, both in person and online, be a reflection of your faith. Walk confidently, knowing that you are not just a follower of Christ; you are a living testimony of His grace. Every act of kindness is a beautiful expression of His eternal love. Every choice made in love is a testament to His presence. Every sincere moment is a reflection of His grace. Live boldly, with the assurance that your life is a light, pointing others toward God.

Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

—Matthew 5:16—

May the intercession, protection, and blessing of our Blessed Mother be with us always.
And may God have Mercy on us and Save us 🙏
