The following story is a great example of how God is sovereign and in control of all things. Enjoy!
A very poor woman with a small family lived in a poor town years ago. The family was hand to mouth and barely managed to make a living. The woman alone was unable to feed her children.
Her husband passed away in a car accident, and they had no savings left. The woman searched for a job but no one was able to afford a maid in that town. The woman seeing her children hungry cried for hours. She heard of a radio show where they asked people to call and find God’s help.
The woman couldn’t take it anymore and one day she called in the radio station asking for help from God.
An atheist man who was also listening to the same radio program decided to make fun of her. He got too angry on the foolish idea of finding God by asking help on a phone call.
He wanted to prove them all wrong that there is no God existing. He got her address from the station and called his secretary.
He told her to buy a large amount of food and other kinds of stuff, and take it to the same woman.
He sent it with the following instruction:
“When the woman asks who sent the food, tell her that it is from the devil.”
When the secretary arrived at the woman’s house, the woman was so happy and grateful for the help that had been received. She started putting her food inside her small house.
The secretary then asked her, “Don’t you want to know who sends the food.”
The woman replied, “No, I don’t even care, because when God orders even the devil obeys!”
My Tewahedo Orthodox sister, what God allows and orchestrates is always meaningful, significant, and purposeful. God will redeem us, restore us, help us, and cause a good outcome for those of us who love Him and follow Him. Those who don’t believe in God can never understand this phenomenon.
All we need to do is believe!
