One Sunday, in church, a little girl sitting alone watched as the offering plate was being passed around. The little girl knew she had to give something to God. She searched inside her small coin purse but found it empty except a few candy wrappers.
Sadly, the little girl watched as the plate passed by her. Still, she knew she had to give something but yet, she had nothing. The guilt she felt grew stronger and stronger.
Finally, she rose from her seat and dashed to the back of the church. It created such noise and was such a distraction that the entire congregation turned to see what was the matter. The little girl tugged the shirt of the deacon, who was carry the offering plate. “May I hold the plate?” she asked.
Not knowing what to do, the man handed the plate, filled with money and envelopes, to the little child and watched with curiosity.
The little girl placed the plate on the ground, stepped inside and said, “Jesus, I don’t have anything else to give You so I give You me.”
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 (KJV)
One of the greatest gifts we can give Our Lord and Savior is laying down our life for Him. I encourage you… don’t worry much about not having anything to put into the offering plate at church, offer yourself with a sincere heart.
