Kindness in a Harsh World

My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, in a world that grows louder and harsher every day, many of us have forgotten how to be truly kind.

Not the polite kind.
Not the “have a nice day” kind.

But the kind that costs us something.

The kind where you pause your day to genuinely see someone.
Where you choose patience when your heart feels tired.
Where you speak truth wrapped in grace instead of judgment wrapped in pride.

Today, we are overflowing with opinions but starving for compassion.
Quick to correct, slow to understand.
Skilled at pointing out what’s wrong, but quiet when it’s time to make things right.

But, my sister, kindness is not weakness.
It is strength wrapped in gentleness.

It takes courage to extend grace instead of withholding it.
It takes character to build someone up rather than tear them down.
It takes humility to listen instead of lecturing.

This is the kindness our faith calls us to live:

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”
— Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV)

The world doesn’t need more noise or more arguments.
It needs hearts willing to care, to slow down, to love.

Kindness isn’t naive.
It’s necessary.
It’s holy.
It’s powerful.

And right now, my sister, the world needs it more than ever. So be the one who brings kindness in a harsh world.

Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering.

—-Colossians 3:12
