There is something beautiful, something truly marvelous, about a soul that chooses God over the world.
To the unbeliever, it makes no sense. To some, it appears strange. To others, unnecessary. But to the one who has truly tasted God’s mercy and encountered His love, devotion becomes the only response that feels natural, the only path that leads to life,
the only choice that brings peace,
the only desire that satisfies the soul.
Because when you genuinely love our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, sacrifice stops feeling like loss.
It becomes devotion.
It becomes worship.
It becomes your offering of love to the One who offered everything for you.
To an unbeliever, living for Christ may look like a wasted life. They see restrictions where we see freedom. They see sacrifice where we see purpose. They see surrender where we see redemption and joy.
But to the believer…
to the one who has tasted His mercy,
felt His peace,
and experienced His forgiveness,
no other life will ever satisfy.
This is why saints walked away from kingdoms.
This is why martyrs faced death with courage.
This is why our Tewahedo fathers and mothers spent their lives in fasting, prayer, and holy obedience.
They knew Him.
They loved Him.
And once you truly know His heart, nothing else compares.
And when you truly read His word…
when you understand the cross,
when you recognize the depth of His love,
when you see how He carried your sins, your shame, and your brokenness—
your heart cannot stay the same.
For how could you not give your life to the One who gave His life for you?
“For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
