My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, it is so easy to forget how blessed we truly are. Life comes at us quickly, and without meaning to, we start focusing on what we lack instead of what God has already placed in our hands. But when we pause even for a quiet moment our eyes begin to open, and we start to see the countless ways God cares for us each day.
To wake up each morning is a gift from God.
To have running water, food, a roof over our head, and a bed to rest in is a blessing.
To breathe without struggle is His grace.
To see, to hear, and to think clearly are gifts we often forget to count.
To eat, to move our bodies, to learn, to work, and to care for others—these are daily mercies poured out by our Heavenly Father.
May we never take them for granted, but give thanks with a humble and joyful heart.
Even the tired moments, the long days, and the heavy responsibilities remind us of something profound: We are alive, and God still has a purpose for us. Every breath is a reminder that He is not done with us yet.
Gratitude is not found only in extraordinary miracles.
It is woven into the ordinary.
Into a warm plate of food.
Into the laughter of family.
Into a quiet prayer before sleep.
Into the sun rising again.
Into the protection of the angels who watch over us.
Into the intercession of our Blessed Mother, St. Mary, who constantly prays for us.
Into every small mercy God pours into our lives without us even noticing.
And this is what makes life so beautiful. The awareness that God is present in even the smallest details. When our hearts learn to give thanks for the ordinary, we begin to see life with new eyes. Joy increases. Peace deepens. Faith becomes sweeter.
So today, my beautiful sister, pause for just a moment. Breathe slowly. Look around you. Let your heart whisper, “Thank You, Lord,” for the blessings that once felt too simple to notice.
You will be amazed at how much goodness has been surrounding you all along.
“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18
