My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, when I read the Holy Bible, I see that even the greatest men and women of God wrestled with faith. Adam and Eve questioned God’s command. Abraham and Sarah doubted His promise to give them a child. Moses felt unworthy and unsure of his ability to lead. Gideon was fearful. Jonah ran from God’s will. Even the disciples—Thomas with his doubts and Peter with his denial—struggled to fully trust our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And when we look at King David and the prophet Jeremiah, we see them openly pouring out their doubts, sorrows, and despair before God.
And yet, through all of this, God remained faithful. He did not abandon them, nor did He turn away from their weakness. Instead, He patiently guided, forgave, and revealed His glory in ways far beyond their understanding.
Sometimes I find myself wondering, “How could they not trust God? Didn’t they know He would show up for them?” I marvel at their moments of unbelief before the Almighty God who holds all power. But their stories remind us that struggling with faith is not unusual. It has always been part of the human journey with God.
And I realize that I am no different. There are days when my faith feels so strong, when I can believe God for anything and everything. There are also days when my faith feels small, and being still before God feels like the hardest thing in the world. Especially during painful seasons of life—when I face loss and grief, when sickness lingers, when prayers seem unanswered, when doors remain firmly shut, or when I stand before mountains that feel impossible to move. In those moments, my heart longs for God to act quickly, to open the way, to heal, or to remove the burden. Waiting feels heavy, and trusting feels like a battle. Yet even then, in both the Bible and my own life, I see this unshakable truth: God is always faithful. And I know that stillness before God is not weakness, it is strength. It is the place where I surrender and let Him fight for me.
So, I must keep believing—believing that His way is always best, for He has proven it time and time again. Believing that He will work all things together for my good, because He has never failed me and He never will. Believing that He will protect me, for He is my defender. And believing that when I surrender my own plans and stop striving to control everything, His plans are always far more beautiful than anything I could ever imagine.
My beautiful sister, even in our doubts, we can hold on to the unshakable truth—God is faithful. He has never failed, and He never will. Just as He worked in the lives of Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, Moses, Gideon, Jonah, the disciples, David, and Jeremiah, He will work in our lives too. Our role is not to force the outcome or demand an answer on our timetable, but to trust Him and choose to believe. As our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23)
And when life is difficult and becomes unbearable, choose to believe in God’s goodness even when you cannot see it, trust His timing even when it feels slow, and rest in His promises even when the path is uncertain. As we lay our doubts and fears before Him, we create space for His miraculous power to move, His love to fill us, and His perfect plan to unfold in ways greater than we could ever imagine.
So, my beautiful sister, stay faithful and always choose to believe. Keep your eyes on our Lord and never forget: God is always faithful. He is with you at every moment, He is working in ways you cannot yet see, and His way is always best. He is all-powerful, and there is absolutely nothing He cannot do. When we trust Him, when we believe in Him, and when we remain steadfast through prayer, fasting and repentance—He strengthens us. For our Lord who conquered death itself will never abandon those who believe in Him.
So no matter what, always choose to believe!
