When we want to learn something new, we take the time to study and practice.
Artists explore different techniques to improve their work. Doctors study diligently, practicing procedures and treatments to perfect their skills and provide the best care for their patients. Architects and engineers memorize complex formulas so they can design safe and beautiful structures.
We dedicate our time and effort to learning things well—so why should it be any different with God’s Word?
King David deeply desired to know God, and he understood that knowing Scripture was the key. He wrote:
“I will meditate on Your precepts, and contemplate Your ways.” (Psalm 119:15, NKJV)
This is such an important lesson for us! If we want to know God and grow in our relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we need to spend time in His Word. Just like we study english, math, or science to master them, we should also dedicate ourselves to learning the Scripture. When we meditate on God’s Word and keep our focus on Him, His truth takes root in our hearts and helps us walk in His ways.
The Bible shows us exactly what God desires for us. It gives us guidance, direction, and wisdom. It reveals His character and His purposes. And as we grow in understanding, we get to respond with joy and obedience!
Today is a great day to start! Try reading at least one chapter a day—just a small step that can bring big blessings into your life.
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
—Hebrews 4:12—
Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
—Psalm 119:105—
