My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, there will be moments in your life when you will fast, pray, and cry out to God with all your heart, and yet, the answer won’t come as you hoped. You’ll know that God can do it, because you’ve seen Him move mountains before. You’ve heard the testimonies. You’ve read the miracles. You’ve tasted His goodness. He’s answered you and come through for you so many times before.
But what if this time, He doesn’t?
What if the door stays shut?
What if the healing doesn’t come?
What if the outcome you longed for doesn’t match what God allows?
This is where true faith begins—not just faith in outcomes, but faith in Who God is.
The same faith of the three young men in the Book of Daniel (3:17–18, NKJV), who said: Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us… But if not, let it be known… we do not serve your gods. This is the bold, unshaken faith we are called to. It’s the kind of faith that doesn’t depend on comfort or miracles, but clings to God in the fire.
Even if the prayers seem unanswered…
Even if the waiting stretches long…
Even if the situation looks impossible…
He is still good.
He is still with you.
He is still God.
In our Tewahedo Orthodox faith, we learn from the saints who endured great suffering with unwavering trust—a faith that clings to God Himself, not to outcomes.
So hold on, my beautiful sister.
You are not alone.
Your prayers are not unheard.
Your tears are not unnoticed.
The fire may not leave right away, but neither will He. The fire may burn, but so does your faith. That’s where the fire refines faith. That’s when our love for God becomes pure, not based on what He gives, but on who He is. Just like the three holy youth standing before King Nebuchadnezzar, you may find yourself in a fiery trial. And yet, with faith and trust, they said: “But if not…” Even if God doesn’t rescue us the way we desire, we will still not bow, because our hearts already belong to Him.
God is with you in the fire—just as He was with the three holy youth, walking among the flames. Trust Him. He will never let you down. And let your life tell the world:
Even if He doesn’t, I will still believe.
Selam Seyoum
