Every time you open the Holy Bible, you’re holding a treasure—something truly priceless!
For thousands of years, God’s Word has guided His people, shaping lives, cultures, and even history itself. But here’s the amazing part: the Holy Bible isn’t just another book—it’s alive! It’s God’s voice, speaking truth, love, and wisdom right into our lives. And the best part? We get to access this incredible gift every single day!
I know that understanding the Bible can sometimes feel overwhelming. With its many stories, teachings, and historical contexts, you might find yourself wondering, “Where do I even start? How can I truly grasp its depth?”
If you’ve ever felt that way, you’re not alone. In Acts 8, we see an Ethiopian official struggling to understand a passage from Isaiah. That’s when Philip, a follower of Jesus, steps in to help. The Bible tells us:
Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. 27 So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, 28 was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”
30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 The place in the Scripture which he read was this:
“He was led as a sheep to the slaughter;
And as a lamb before its shearer is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.
33 In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation?
For His life is taken from the earth.” (Acts 8:26-34, NKJV)
Philip showed him how Isaiah’s words pointed directly to Jesus—the Savior who gave His life for us. And as the Ethiopian man listened, something clicked. His heart opened, he believed, and his life was changed forever!
My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, we’re not meant to figure everything out on our own. Just as God sent Philip to help the Ethiopian man, He places people in our lives to guide us in understanding His Word. That’s why having a spiritual father—someone who can encourage you in your faith—is so important. He can help you understand the Scriptures, grow in wisdom, and stay rooted in God’s truth.
At the end of this story, the Ethiopian man went on his way rejoicing—and how can we not do the same?
We too can find joy in the depth of God’s love for us. His love is not distant or conditional but personal and everlasting. When we truly understand this, our response can only be one of gratitude and rejoicing, walking forward in faith with our hearts full of hope.
So today, as you open your Holy Bible, ask God to open your heart and to give you fresh eyes—to see more of His love, His character, and His plan for you. Let His Word shape and strengthen you. And as you discover His truth, let it bring you joy and peace.
Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.

May the intercession, protection, and blessing of our Blessed Mother be with us always.
And may God have Mercy on us and Save us 🙏
