God Doesn’t Give Up On Us

Have you ever felt like you’ve messed up too badly for God to still have a plan for you? Maybe you’ve made mistakes, or perhaps you’ve felt like you’ve let God down one too many times. If you feel like you’ve strayed too far or failed too much, remember this: With God, it’s never too late. His grace is greater than your mistakes, and His love runs deeper than your failures. No matter how far we’ve wandered or how broken we may feel, He is always ready to redeem, restore, and offer us a fresh start. His love is not based on our perfection; it’s rooted in His mercy. And His mercy endures forever.

Let’s take a look at some people in the Bible who lived out God’s “Plan B” for their lives. Their stories remind us that no one is beyond God’s grace, and He can take even our biggest failures and turn them into something beautiful.

Think about Rahab. Every time her name is mentioned, it’s often followed by her past: Rahab the Harlot. But that’s not who she stayed. God stepped into her story, gave her a fresh start, and used her in ways she never imagined. Not only did she survive the destruction of her city by choosing to trust God, but she also became part of the lineage of Jesus Christ! Imagine that—a woman with a painful past became a woman of faith, honored forever in the Bible.

Maybe you have parts of your past that bring you shame. Perhaps you’ve struggled for years or made choices you regret. You might feel like you’ll always be defined by your past. If that’s you, let Rahab’s story remind you that God specializes in redemption. He doesn’t define you by your mistakes, and He certainly doesn’t want you stuck in guilt. If you’ve repented of your sins, your past is behind you. It’s time to move forward—free and forgiven.

And then there’s Saint Peter. I love Saint Peter’s story because he messed up a lot—but God never gave up on him. He went to sleep when he should have been praying, even on the night of Jesus’ betrayal. But worse than all of that—much worse—he openly denied our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, three times. This happened while Jesus was enduring the humiliating ordeal of a mock trial. When he should have stood up and been counted, he turned his back and fled.

Yet, Jesus never gave up on Saint Peter. After His resurrection, He went out of His way to restore Saint Peter, reminding him that his calling was still intact. And what happened? Saint Peter went on to become one of the greatest leaders of the early church.

The Bible is full of stories like these—Abraham, Jacob, David, Hosea’s wife, and so many more. Their lives remind us of this simple truth: God doesn’t give up on us. Yes, we may face consequences for our actions, but we never have to carry guilt and shame.

My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, no matter how many times you’ve messed up, God’s grace is always there for you! He stands ready to forgive, restore, and offer you another chance. If you haven’t already, take a moment today to talk to your spiritual father and repent of your sins. And if you don’t yet have one, I encourage you to find one as soon as possible. A spiritual father is a precious gift—someone who can guide and support you on this beautiful journey of faith.

I’m so grateful that we serve a God who never gives up on us. And we can truly say:

Dear Past, thank you for your lessons.
Dear Future, I’m ready.
Dear God, thank You for giving me another chance.

May God bless you always & May the intercession of our Blessed Mother be with you 🤲

Who is a God like You,
Pardoning iniquity
And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage?
He does not retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in mercy.
-Micah 7:18-

But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious,
Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.
-Psalm 86:15-
