Valentine’s Day: Single and Blessed

The world often tells us that Valentine’s Day is all about romantic love. It suggests grand gestures and having someone special to celebrate with. With so much focus on romance, it’s easy to feel left out or even start questioning yourself: What about me? What’s wrong with me? What did I do wrong? Where are my flowers?

But here’s the truth: NOTHING is wrong with you! Your worth isn’t defined by your relationship status, and this day doesn’t have to bring you down. Please know that God has not forgotten about you, and He never will. He sees you, He knows you, and He loves you deeply. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us: “So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

As followers of Christ, we know that love isn’t defined by a single day. It’s not defined by a bouquet of flowers or a relationship status. Love is who God is. His love for you is deeper and more fulfilling than anything this world can offer. So, my beautiful sister, instead of dwelling on what the world tells you that you need, think about what God has already given you:

  • His Love: The most beautiful and everlasting love comes from God Himself. “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” (Jeremiah 31:3). His love is constant, unconditional, and never fades.

  • His Presence: You are never alone. Whether you’re single, dating, or married, God’s presence is always with you, guiding, strengthening, and comforting you. “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).

  • His Purpose: Your life is valuable and meaningful just as it is right now. You are not in a waiting room until marriage—God is already using you in this season for His glory. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10).

My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, trust in God’s perfect timing. His plan for you is far greater than you can ever imagine, and His love is the greatest gift of all. If marriage is part of His plan for you, He will bring the right person into your life. It will happen at the perfect moment. In the meantime, embrace your singleness with joy and confidence.

So this Valentine’s Day, instead of longing for what the world says will make you happy, celebrate what God has already blessed you with. Find joy in your relationship with Him. Cherish God’s love, and know that you are deeply loved and valued—not just today, but every single day.

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.
—Ecclesiastes 3:1—

May the intercession, protection, and blessing of our Blessed Mother be with us always.
And may God have Mercy on us and Save us 🙏
