Life has its ups and downs and at times all we can do is cry out to our Lord. When we feel broken, and the pain runs deep in our spirit. In those moments when we feel so low, that’s when we need God the most.
Throughout history, believers have cried out to God in times of distress. It is a profound petition, a heartfelt plea to God. Sometimes, after years of praying, a single, desperate, and urgent cry to God yields an answer instantly.
When we cry out to God it is an act of desperation and total surrender. It demonstrates our faith in Him. It shows that we trust in His goodness and in His power to act on our behalf.
In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears (Psalm 18:6).
Crying out to God expresses our genuine humility, unconditional surrender, and our plea for mercy—one that only He can answer.
In Psalm 50:15, the Lord says, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” Our Heavenly Father invites us to call out to Him when we are in despair. Our God hears our cries, and He will deliver us from any despair we are facing.
My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, your cry to God acknowledges His ability to do what no one else can. We cry out in desperation, knowing that God is the only One who can help us in our distress. Whatever it is that you’re going through, God is with you. Have faith in Him. Trust in Him. Cry out to Him. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, will hear you. He will answer you. He will help you every single time.
“I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
—Psalm 34:4—
May the intercession, protection, and blessing of our Blessed Mother be with us always.
And may God have Mercy on us and Save us 🙏
