A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said,
Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side.
Very quietly, the doctor said, I don’t know.
You don’t know? You are a Christian man, and don’t know what’s on the other side?
The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said, did you notice my dog? He’s never been in this room before. He didn’t know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.
I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing…
I know my Master is there and that is enough!
My beautiful Tewahedo Orthodox sister, what a wonderful way to live knowing our Master will be there. Please remember death doesn’t care if you are young or old, rich or poor, or if you have a fancy house, a title or a promising career. The color of your skin makes no difference at all; each and every one of us will pass through the door of death. And there is no stopping it when the time comes to take our last breath.
What is important is that we live a life that honors God. If you are going in the wrong direction and following the path of this world, make a U turn and start walking towards God today. Our Lord is merciful and doesn’t want anyone to perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Therefore, if you don’t have a spiritual father, please get one today – repent and take the Holy Communion.
In the Gospel of John 6:53-58, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”
Please remember, we are not promised a tomorrow; any second could be our last. Before it’s too late, we must turn to God. Only then can we hope to see our Master as we enter the door of heaven.
May the intercession, protection, and blessing of our Blessed Mother be with us always.
And may God have Mercy on us and Save us 🙏
